Excelsior 1919 Boardtrack Racer.
The captain of the Excelsior racing team, Bob Perry had a special relationship with the Schwinn family.
Ignaz Schwinn, the owner of the Excelsior Motorcycle Company envisioned Perry as a future executive in the company
and did not want him to race, but Perry wanted to race and was on hand to ride one of the new 1919 61 cu.in. OHC machines in
its debut at Ascot Park, Ca. on January 4, 1920. The Excelsior team arrived early for testing and discovered that the extremely
powerful new engine performed like it could fulfill Schwinn's hopes for a racer that would beat the Indian and Harley-Davidson
works machines. On January 3 it was announced that Bob Perry would ride the Excelsior on full throttle around the Ascot oval.
He crashed and was killed when he lost control entering a turn at a speed estimated between 95 and 100 miles per hour.
"Schwinn was devastated. The Excelsior team withdrew from the Ascot event, and Ignaz Schwinn went into the racing shop and
personally destroyed all of the overhead cam engines with a sledge hammer.
Not one of the machines survived.
This 1919 Excelsior Boardtrack racer was carefully recreated by Paul Brodie, using 6 known photographs of several of the
original machines.

Militaire motorcycle 1915
The 4 cylinder MILITAIRE was produced from 1913 until 1917 by the Militaire Auto Company of Buffalo New York.
Its four cylinder ( inlet over exhaust) 68 cu. in.
engine produce some 11.5 H.P.
It has some very unusual features, such as wooden artillery wheels with 28 inch x 3 clincher tires, a curved front axel on which the front bearing slid in order to make a turn, a car like three-speed "on the floor" type stick shift plus reverse gear, shaft drive through beveled gears with an enclosed ring gear and pinion at the rear wheel and on the side, retractable outrigger wheels which also has a big advantage when waiting for the traffic lights.
These foot lever operated wheels retract like landing gear on an aircraft.
One can stop to a complete standstill and accelerate again without taking ones feet from the foot boards.
The length of 97" must have made it the longest machine on the road. Speed is claimed to be from 3 to 70 miles an hour.
The original cost was $335.00 and it was a lot of machine for the money.
This 1915 model is an extremely rare survivor of one of the most charismatic motorcycles ever built.

A short video showing the new stainless collector/header that I made. I had wanted to do this for some time but didn't have much luck bending the tubing. I built a tubing bender and finally made the parts. It is silver soldered together. The sound has changed somewhat but the video doesn't do it justice. This movie clip is from the carburetor/distributor side of the engine. You can see the distributor advance when the throttle is opened
1/3 scale 302 Ford V8 running
After a long period of just sitting in the display case I finally made the time to get my 1/3 scale 302 Ford V8 engine running again. I made an entirely new distributor and points along with a different cap. I think the ignition problems are sorted out I just have to get the carburetion fine tuned. This video is the first one taken with all the changes. I only have it running at one speed till I figure out what adjustments are needed.
This is the latest video of my 302 Ford engine running. Prior to the last video I had redesigned the distributor thinking I had a great idea to operate the points. It worked but very intermittently. I then went modern and replaced everything with a Hall trigger. The magnet is on a stationary post and the timer is similar to full sized automotive practice, it has windows around the perimeter of a drum. I have been playing with it and I think this is going to be the answer. It turns out that all the carb problems were actually ignition problems.

Motorized Dyno Moto Glide Bobber Chopper
This is a motorized Dyno Moto Glide that I built. I used a new Dyno Moto Glide and a new motorized bike kit from Ebay. I bought both on craigslist. I spent the winter working on it and I have over $500 just in machine shop work on parts adapting the Shimano Nexus 4 speed rear hub to work with the rear sprocket that came in the kit and also adding a rear disc brake. After prototyping everything together, it was disassembled and completely refinished with automotive base/clear two tone paint.

Rigid frame go kart build slideshow
Intended for use on smooth dirt & grass, this kart took around 60 hours to build. Rigid frame (no suspension) and side mounted motor give the kart a short wheelbase, kart will fit in a 6x4 trailer.
The seat is fitted 30mm left of centre to compensate for the engine hanging off the side. The engine is a 125cc Ducar motor - 4 speed manual.
The kart also features KSI cable operated caliper,Saas steering wheel & Willans harness.
Bayswater Power Trans. provided machine work on rear axle, sprocket & carrier, and Powercycle in Bayswater provided the disc. Everything else has been engineered by myself.
I made an Aluminium panel/heat shield between the fuel tank & muffler. I had to make one to match for the other side, just so it looked right. I haven't made any other panels or floor to let air flow through the frame, as the engine is air cooled.

This is an eight-cylinder V4 engine that consists of four Ringbom engines, with the power cylinders arranged in a V.
The engine is composed of a big pillar that supports the flywheel, the cooling plates, the displacers and the power cylinders.
This was done to make it as slender as possible and I enjoyed putting this tree structure into practice.
This Ringbom engine also has a steel spring to keep the weight of the displacer as low as possible. In this way the displacer can oscillate under the change of air pressure in the power piston. If the engine has warmed up sufficiently it can also run on two Ringbom engines with the other two decompressed.
The number of strokes per minute of this machine is between 100 and 300. The advantage of this machine is that every engine is self-regulating. I get the impression that the engine starts to produce its power when the displacer and the power piston have shifted approx. 90°.
At that position it is also noticeable that the movement of the displacer rods reacts strongly to the temperature of the heat source and the speed of the flywheel.
At high flywheel speeds the movements of the displacer seem to be small (minimal exchanges of cold and hot air), but if the engine is loaded and the flywheel turns slowly we observe a bigger movement of the displacer rods (more exchange of cold and hot air), and gradually the engine runs faster. Something to observe for hours!
The challenge for me was the construction of the tree structure. It shows that it is possible to run a machne with a number of Ringbom engines in it.
I called this engine the V4 because the design reminds us strongly of the internal combustion engines of the contemporary means of transport.
This engine should also be regarded as an art object, for which the movement of the rods, crank and springs of the displacers is essential.

Heres my latest paint job, candy blue flake with pearl. The paint job hasn't been wetsanded or buffed yet. Same goes with the green tank later on in the video.
Paint job came out good,but I'm not sure if I should of thrown the pearl on there, does look different though..

Make an ATV street legal. King quad 750
All you need to do to make your ATV street legal is go to title company and have them change the title from ATV to motorcycle. Then before you go onto the road. Add turn signals. Mirrors. Horn. Head light. Tail light that works as a running light and a brake light just like a car. After all that is done go to WWW.pureoffroad.com and select the link for tires a d go to dot approved tires and select the tire for your bike. If you have rims that are 13 " you can just go to your local tire center. I have a 2009 Suzuki King Quad 750 that I put a set of street tires and everything else on and have been driving it all around town and everywhere I want to go. Your ATV. Must be able to maintain 35 MPH to be road worthy. If you title it as a motorcycle you will need a motorcycle license. ( very easy to get ) you may be able to title it as a car not sure though but I am looking in to it to find out. You do have to insure it just like a car.
